Bluegrass PRIDE conducts waste audits in area schools

Bluegrass PRIDE, a non-profit environmental education organization based in Lexington, recently received a grant from Wal-Mart to conduct waste audits in all schools in Garrard and Lincoln Counties. Bluegrass PRIDE staff members evaluate trash and recycling in every classroom, demonstrating to teachers and students what can be recycled and what a difference recycling makes in the amount of waste coming from schools. In lean budget times, schools stand to save a great deal of money in trash disposal costs by maximizing recycling.
