About Us

With a vision for expanded and enhanced solid waste services, the fiscal courts of Garrard and Lincoln Counties formed the Garrard/Lincoln Solid Waste Management Area in March 2010. The Garrard/Lincoln Solid Waste Management Area uses the combined resources of the two former county solid waste departments to provide a variety of services to the 42,000 citizens of Garrard and Lincoln Counties. Among these services are curbside and drop-off point recycling, litter abatement, illegal dump remediation, code enforcement, public education, bulky item pick-up, and free dump days events.

The Garrard/Lincoln Solid Waste Management Area is governed by a board of directors as outlined in KRS 109.115 and is comprised of the Judge/Executive of Garrard County, the Judge/Executive of Lincoln County, the Mayor of Lancaster, the Mayor of Stanford, and one citizen member appointed from each county. The board is vested with authority over all solid waste issues within the two counties.
