About Recycling

Waste reduction is a major priority for the Garrard/Lincoln Solid Waste Management Area. Each year, more than 800 tons of recyclables are diverted from local landfills as a result of the many recycling opportunities available in the two counties.

Recycling not only saves landfill space, but also generates revenue for the solid waste program. All monies received from the sale of recyclables each year are put back into the solid waste program, saving taxpayers many thousands of dollars each year.

The recycling industry in the United States also employs more than 1.1 million people and by recycling, you are helping hundreds of thousands of American families put food on their table every year.
