Garrard Middle School Students Paint Recycling Bin

Garrard County Middle School students recently participated in a project sponsored by the Garrard/Lincoln Solid Waste Management Area through grants from the Kentucky Division of Waste Management and funds from GEAR Up, Berea College.  The project involved the designing and painting of a recycling bin.  8th grader Zoe Lester stated “Recycling sends a good message and lets others know that we care about the environment. We designed the theme of video games and Super Mario Brothers because it is something that everyone is aware of.  Shea Davis suggested pop culture and the idea went from there.  It is meant to catch peoples’ eye and make them interested to learn more and take part.  We really want to be involved in our community”.
